Assembler

Performs machine assembly and wiring of standard and custom build machinery and sub-assemblies. Reads machine blueprints and specifications to determine part placement, tolerances, and function. Performs basic machining of parts such as deburring, drilling, tapping or reaming, when necessary. Analyzes electrical schematics and routes and terminates wiring. Work is primarily standard with guidance provided on more complex projects.

Design Engineer I

Develops detailed designs for custom automated machines and workstations. Includes the design of the structure, layout, and all mechanical components. Assists with specifications for pneumatic and electrical systems and controls. Creates and maintains necessary machine documentation including machine specifications, drawings, models, and renderings. Develops good customer relations to ensure designs result in satisfaction with the company product. Upon completion, analyzes data and reports findings to enable continuous improvement.

Controls Technician

This position is responsible for assisting the Controls Team in key functions related to machine controls and electronics.  Position includes maintaining existing machine programs and machine controls.  Build electrical panels and orders electrical, controls and fluid power components and supplies.  Performs machine startup and supports debug and machine process setup.  Updates schematics and assists in documenting machine operations.  Services machine controls systems at customer site when needed.  Position is expected to grow into design and specific control, motion and electrical systems to meet customer expectations for cost quality and delivery.

Applications Lab Engineer

The Applications Lab Engineer reviews and assesses customer assembly projects and provides a formal recommendation regarding feasibility, best methods, potential issues and process options. This report may include suggestions for changing customer part material type, part dimensions and/or part joint designs to achieve a better process result. Testing of plastic materials and/or sample parts may be required to effectively evaluate a given application. The lab engineer supports Extol’s internal and external sales efforts with plastics joining expertise, consultation, problem solving, testing, evaluation and analysis. Additional duties include machine set-up and small volume assembly work.

Direct customer interaction at Extol or at customer facilities occurs regularly.  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential to this position.

Mechanical Product Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Mechanical Product Engineer to work out of our Zeeland, Michigan facility. The Product Engineer will provide engineering support during standard product launches. They will support continuous improvement, cost reduction efforts, and product refinements throughout the life cycles of Extol’s standard products. The position will work closely with the Product Manager to manage, engineer, implement, and document product changes and revisions. The Product Engineer will also assist the Product Development Team with various development tasks.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, experience with engineering standard products in a manufacturing environment, and experience with 3D modeling.

From humble beginnings in 1985, Extol has become a recognized supplier of high quality, standard and custom plastics-joining equipment. Approximately 80 employees work in our 53,400-square-foot facility located in Zeeland, Michigan. Our capabilities range from basic fixturing and stand alone inspection stations to designing, manufacturing, and integrating complex automation systems.
