Applications Engineer

We currently have an opening for an Applications Engineer to work in our Process Development Center in Zeeland, Michigan. This self-motivated individual supports sales efforts by evaluating customer applications as well as technical plastic joining process needs. The candidate must have excellent problem solving and hands-on skills. The candidate should be an excellent communicator and be able to multi-task as well as be comfortable with assembly machines as well as writing reports and conducting detailed analysis. Experience with SolidWorks is a plus. The ideal candidate will have some level of experience in plastics and a bachelor’s degree with 3 – 10 years technical experience with proven results. Minimal travel to customer facilities may be required.

Controls Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Controls Engineer to work in our engineering group in Zeeland, Michigan. This individual designs and develops control, motion, and electrical systems for custom automated machines and tooling. This requires ordering of electrical and motion control components and supplies, as well as the creation of electrical schematics. The engineer programs and debugs machine controls, updates schematics and assists in documenting machine operations and settings. Some processing work is expected and light travel may be required to assist Extol’s service department at customer sites when needed. The position requires excellent communication skills with team members and with customers to ensure designs are clearly communicated. Upon completion of a project, the design engineer must analyze data and report findings to enable continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have controls experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley on custom machines, hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and have 2-5 years of related job experience with proven results.

Mechanical Product Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Mechanical Product Engineer to work out of our Zeeland, Michigan facility. The Product Engineer will provide engineering support during standard product launches. They will support continuous improvement, cost reduction efforts, and product refinements throughout the life cycles of Extol’s standard products. The position will work closely with the Product Manager to manage, engineer, implement, and document product changes and revisions. The Product Engineer will also assist the Product Development Team with various development tasks.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, experience with engineering standard products in a manufacturing environment, and experience with 3D modeling.

Project Manager

We currently have an opening for a Project Manager to work in our Project Management team in Zeeland, Michigan. This leader will have 5-7 years of Project Management experience in a fast-paced environment, leading technical project teams by providing clarity around scope, project milestones, and project costs. This leader will have exceptional people and team building skills, and a proven ability to effectively deal with customers and commercial issues. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, as well as PMP certification.

Product Engineer
Job Summary:

The Product Engineer improves Extol standard products by providing engineering support for product changes and revisions, product certification, product launch and product development.  The Product Engineer initiates cost reduction and product refinement efforts.

Performs other duties that may be assigned as needed.

Hours Required: Full-Time, 48 Hours/Week (average) Exempt (Salary)

Regular Work Schedule: Monday – Friday with weekends as needed

In addition to the following, the Product Engineer is also responsible for supporting Extol’s leadership of the organization by adhering to all company communicated expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Communication
  1. Assists the Product Manager with identifying appropriate product changes in accordance with product issues and product lifecycle evaluations
  2. Collaborate with manufacturing cell leaders and the service team to identify product quality issues and recommend product changes and revisions to improve quality
  3. Collaborate with supplier development, manufacturing cell leaders, and suppliers to identify standard product cost drivers and recommend product changes and revisions to reduce costs
  4. Reports to the Development Manager and works with the product development team with various development related tasks including (but not limited to), project management, product ideation, product design, research and development and production testing utilizing Extol standards and procedures
Organization
  1. Lead the regulatory compliance team (charged with obtaining and maintaining applicable certifications including CE, UL, CSA, etc.)
  2. Assist manufacturing cell leaders with implementing standard product revisions
  3. Manage, engineer, implement and document product changes in accordance with Extol QMS requirements
Facilitation
  1. Lead standard product launch teams and provide engineering support for standard product launch
  2. Provide standard product engineering support to Extol’s Sales and Service Teams
