Accountant I

Job Summary

This entry level accountant supports the Director of Finance in responsibilities of the Corporate Services Group. They have a good working knowledge of professional general accounting procedures. With general supervision, they record financial information, prepare financial reports and at times perform clerical tasks.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • With general supervision, manage the credit extended to customers.
    • Maintaining the company’s system of assigning a customer’s credit status.
      • communicates with sales staff regarding qualification of accounts.
      • researches information from credit organizations.
      • maintain records on delinquent accounts and credit risks.
      • when required, manage equipment liens and limited use software licenses as they apply to customer purchases.
    • Billing and collection of payments of customer orders.
      • invoicing for customer payments.
      • frequently communicates with Operations and Service staff regarding customer order billings.
      • maintains visual control requirements, as it relates to payment of customer orders, for Operations and Service.
      • maintain and update appropriate accounts receivable aging reports for financial and management reporting.
      • issues progressive request for payment of past-due accounts.
      • within policy limits, works out payment plans for past due accounts, referring large cases to their manager for approval.
    • Cross trains to cover other team member’s duties such as processing Accounts Payable.
    • Perform other accounting, financial or administrative tasks that may be required from time to time as directed by the Director of Finance.
    • Issuance of timely and accurate management reports as needs arise.
    • Assist in the month-end closing process.
    • Assist in the management of the company’s quality management system (QMS) for the Corporate Services Finance area, as it pertains to issue response logs and corrective action records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with QuickBooks and proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to manage varying demands and deadlines and negotiate acceptable solutions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to following all safety and quality guidelines.
