Customer Comment Rubber Meets the Road...

Tom Jessup, Molding Manager at Rexair, LLC in Cadillac, Michigan, commented about the recent 1015 Rapid Conductor installation:

"Many on our senior staff were skeptical of the machine's performance capabilities (too good to be true), they had some experience with old style hot-plate welders. To summarize the comments during the demonstration, "this is not your father's hot-plate welder" best captures it. By the time we were finished with the demonstration, everyone was a believer."

Shedding Light on the Importance of 'Cooling Air'

The InfraStake process incorporates cooling air that flows through each module during the staking cycle for a number of reasons:

  • It maintains a positive pressure condition in the area between the reflector and the concentrator that keeps dust and airborne debris out
  • It reduces potential 'out-gassing' build-up on the internal reflective surfaces
  • It maintains reasonable lamp and punch temperatures
  • It stabilizes the heating process especially for dark-colored resins, by optimizing the rate at which the plastic is heated
  • It assures consistent plastic re-solidification during the punch or hold phase

Extol typically recommends a 1.2 SCFM flow-rate for InfraStake modules performing standard staking applications. Each Extol InfraStake systems includes a flow meter as part of the tool kit.

'Rapid Conductor'
Welder is the Real Deal...

Mark Falkensteen, Director of Manufacturing at Expert, Corp. wrote us a very nice note at the completion of a project which included this summary of the Rapid Conductor welder:

"...from the first demonstration of one of your standard units we were extremely impressed with the almost incredible speed and control provided by the servo-based operating system. This distinct advantage quickly alleviated our concerns with process issues and the high temperature operation and related tool coatings proved very impressive..."
