Cleaning

How often do the reflective surfaces need to be cleaned?

Every three weeks is a good starting point for a PM schedule for a single-shift, 5-day operation. The interval can then be adjusted as necessary. Inspect the insides of the reflectors and concentrators every 3 weeks and look for dirty residue. Another indicator of dirty reflective surfaces is a boss that isn’t fully staked by process settings that were working well before.

1. Disassemble the module

Rotate the concentrator to release it from the lock pin and pull it off the InfraStake body.

2. Clean the reflective surfaces

Thoroughly clean the reflector and concentrator with a soft, clean cloth and non-abrasive polish (i.e. Award Glo) or any non-abrasive cleaner (i.e. window cleaner or isopropyl alcohol). Extol offers a cleaning kit that contains Award Glo polish and a polishing cloth. Part No. 1102706

Optional: Extensive cleaning

Continue disassembling the module. Grasp the punch and firmly pull until it releases from the magnet. Continue pulling to remove the lamp, reflector, and punch assembly from the InfraStake body.

Caution: Punch may be hot.

Remove the punch from the punch coupler by loosening the two socket-head screws with a hex wrench.
(ISM20: 2 mm, IS125: 3/32″)

Remove the punch from the reflector.

Remove the lamp assembly from the reflector by first removing the two screws holding it in place.
(ISM20: 2 mm hex, IS125: #1 Phillips)

Thoroughly clean the reflector and concentrator with a soft, clean cloth and non-abrasive polish or cleaner.

Caution: Lamp may be hot.

3. Reassemble the module

Reattach the lamp assembly to the reflector with the two screws provided.

Insert the punch into the reflector assembly until the legs protrude through the other back side. Fasten the punch coupler to the legs of the punch using hex wrench.

Note: The punch legs should be completely seated into the punch coupler. The punch flat (if present) should be oriented so it is on the same side as the notch or flat in the reflector.

Insert the complete lamp, reflector, and punch assembly into the module. Make certain the magnet re-attaches to the punch coupler.

Install the concentrator onto the InfraStake module by pushing it on and rotating it over the lock pin to secure it in place.

Replacing the Lamp

How long should the lamp last?

The tungsten-halogen lamp in the InfraStake module should last approximately 1000 hours. This varies somewhat from lamp to lamp, but generally speaking, if your InfraStake heat time is 6 seconds, the lamp should last for half a million cycles.

1. Disassemble the module

Rotate the concentrator to release it from the lock pin and pull it off the InfraStake body.

2. Remove Lamp, Reflector, and Punch Assembly

Grasp the punch and firmly pull until it releases from the magnet. Continue pulling to remove the lamp, reflector, and punch assembly from the InfraStake body.

Caution: Punch may be hot.

3. Remove Punch

Remove the punch from the punch coupler by loosening the two socket-head screws with a hex wrench.
(ISM20: 2 mm, IS125: 3/32″)

Remove the punch from the reflector.

4. Remove Lamp

Remove the lamp assembly from the reflector by first removing the two screws holding it in place.

(ISM20: 2 mm hex, IS125: #1 Phillips)

Discard the lamp assembly.

Caution: Lamp may be hot.

5. Replace Lamp

Using gloves, install the new lamp assembly into the reflector and secure it with the two screws.

Note: Do NOT touch the lamp with your fingers as oil from your skin may reduce lamp life.

6. Reassemble the module

7. Reset the lamp on-time and cycle counter

On the HMI, under the Monitor section, open the Maintenance tab. Reset the lamp on-time and cycle counter back to zero in order to track the usage of the new lamp. A confirmation prompt will appear, tap OK to confirm and reset the lamp.
