Plastic Welding
What is plastic welding?
Plastic welding is the process of heating two pieces of plastic and pressing them together until they fuse. There are several different types of plastic welding. Each technology differs in how they apply heat and pressure to the parts, but the basic steps are the same — add heat, apply pressure, and cool. Plastic welds are strong molecular bonds. Depending on which welding technology is used, the weld is hermetically sealed.

Advantages of Servo-Driven Hot Plate Welders
Servo-controlled hot plate welders completely revolutionize the hot-plate welding process. Take it from Extol, we started the servo movement with the Rapid Conductor hot plate welder. Our welders use servo-motors to control the platens and weld strong, repeatable parts.
How to Clean Up Your Dirty Welding Process
“I need clean plastic parts!” We hear this from our customers all the time. We can help. Extol now offers a cleaner way to weld plastic parts together.
Extol receives patent for revolutionary nanoSTAKE® plastic staking technology
Extol is pleased to announce that we have received a patent for our revolutionary nanoSTAKE plastic staking technology. This is Extol’s second patent for a staking technology that will change the manufacturing industry. NanoSTAKE was developed to.
Laser Welding Reflections
Humans have been fascinated by reflections for millennia. Narcissus was bewitched by his reflection in a pool of water and mirrors have magic powers in fairy tales. Speaking of mirrors, they are simply smooth surfaces with shiny, dark backgrounds.
Laser plastic welding is the clean, precise process your application needs
Laser plastic welding is a proven, powerful, and effective way to join plastics. It’s been used in industry for over 20 years and its ability to weld a wide variety of part sizes, with precision weld joints, minimal flash, and no particulate is.
How to determine the strength of a plastic staking joint
Design engineers often ask us, “How strong will my staked joint be?” Usually, they’re designing a plastic assembly that needs to be staked, and they need to know how to design the part.
