The nanoSTAKE Process

The low-current, high-performance heater heats the punch to a programmed melt temperature in seconds and forms the boss into a stake. Once the punch reaches the correct height, it rapidly cools to a programmed release temperature and retracts.

Heat

The Smart Respond™ heating technology heats the punch to a programmed melt temperature in seconds.

Form

The low-current, high-performance heater maintains melt temperature as the punch forms the boss into a stake.

Cool

Once the punch reaches the correct height, it rapidly cools to a programmed release temperature.

Retract

The cooled module retracts.

nanoSTAKE Technology

nanoSTAKE® is a revolutionary staking technology that uses a proprietary Smart Respond™ heating technology to rapidly heat and cool a punch to stake plastic.

The low‑current, high‑performance heater heats the punch to a programmed melt temperature in seconds and forms the boss into a stake. Once the punch reaches the correct height, it rapidly cools to a programmed release temperature and retracts. nanoSTAKE uses low current (1.5 A) which allows for quick and easy connections.

nanoSTAKE Benefits

Accessible SPC data with dataPLUS™

Feed nanoSTAKE process data to your machine PLC.

With dataPLUS network communication activated, the System Controller makes data available to a PLC over an ethernet connection. Available data includes system information, process data, and fault notifications.

DataPLUS is an optional upgrade.

Effortless quality assurance

nanoSTAKE uses Smart Respond, a low‑current, high‑performance heating technology with an embedded temperature sensor for true closed-loop process control. An optional position sensor controls the stake height.

Easy and quick connections

nanoSTAKE only uses 1.5 A of current at 120 VAC. This low current allows for small wires and small, easily manageable connections.

Fits in tight spaces

nanoSTAKE is small and compact so it fits in tight spaces.

  • Smart Respond heating technology uses a low‑current, high‑performance heater with an embedded temperature sensor.
  • Closed-loop process control
  • LED indicator shows module status
  • No heat migration into the module; all the heat is concentrated at the tip.
  • Position monitoring (optional)
  • 8 mm punch diameter
  • Capable of staking bosses 0.5 – 4.0 mm in diameter
  • Conduction heat transfer
  • Unimpacted by material color

nanoSTAKE Controls Features

Smart Release

Prevent plastic from sticking after being staked.

After staking a part, Smart Release warms the nanoSTAKE modules while lightly pulling up to allow them to cleanly release from the plastic. Once the modules retract, Smart Release intelligently cools them back down.

Validation Mode

Make sure your Boss Position and Final Position quality limits are set up correctly.

Validation Mode allows for testing of “red rabbit” parts. When in Validation Mode, the user loads a known bad part to verify that the nanoSTAKE modules correctly flag the Boss Position or Final Position as “outside the limits”.

dataPLUS™

Feed nanoSTAKE process data to your machine PLC.

With dataPLUS network communication activated, the System Controller makes data available to a PLC over an ethernet connection. Available data includes system information, process data, and fault notifications.

DataPLUS is an optional upgrade.

A staking process for lighting and electronics

A staking process for lighting and electronics

How many times have you stared at a plastic staking machine and wondered how long of a cool time is necessary to prevent the material from sticking to the forming tool when it retracts? Will the settings need to be adjusted after the machine has been running for a while? You need to make good parts, but you also want to optimize the machine cycle time. And naturally, the staking modules need to be small enough to fit your application. Automotive lighting and electronics manufacturers especially need a staking process that fits in tight spaces, keeps up with production, and is simple to set up and operate. Enter nanoSTAKE®, a patent-pending, revolutionary new staking technology that fits the bill.
